I like to start by stating who is not a fit for my services. If you are looking for a bargain basement price of the cut-and-paste variety this is not the service for you. It is not that there is anything wrong with those services; there is a market for them. But I chose to work with people who are more serious about their careers and realize that the old adage is true: You get what you pay for.
To explain my philosophy I like to offer a brief explanation. According to most experts the average time a job seeker is out of work is 6 months. To go along with this most HR professionals will tell you that better than 80% of the resumes they receive are rejected within ten seconds.
These two figures are not unrelated. Poor resume writing leads to longer periods of unemployment.
Now let’s add some hypothetical numbers. The median income is around $41,000. Let’s go even lower and base the following on an income of $36,000. Stay with me now, if your desired income is $36k then your monthly pay would be $3,000. If you were out of work for 6 months that would be a loss of $18,000!
Now what if you paid an expert to write your resume and you got a job two months earlier. That would save you $6,000. How much would you be willing to pay for a document that could save you $6k? If you had your taxes done by a qualified CPA and he found you a $6,000 refund, you would gladly pay him a sizable fee wouldn’t you?
And remember, we were basing this example on a desired income of only $36,000.
OK,but I asked what you charge for a resume, you ask. I know, I’m getting there, hang with me just a second longer.
There are 3 industry price points for resumes: entry, professional and executive. You can find a number of experienced outfits to write a resume for you, but most of them are “big-box” companies like Monster.com or Career Builder. Again, nothing wrong with these companies; they provide a service many people are looking for. However, the clients I work with are looking for something more.
When you work with a big box company you will contact one of the dozens of people manning the front office who will then send you to one of the dozens of writers working for them. If you have a question you may very well be referred to a third person in their help center. Need help later- that will be another writer. When you are my client you work with me.

You can see where I am going with this. I work with clients who want an experienced professional who knows the ins and outs of creating a personal brand, and they want a personalized service.
Most of the big-box companies will nickel and dime you with add-ons, opening with a lower price on the resume (since they know that is what you’ll look at first) and then add on over-priced cover letters and thank you letters. I don’t. I am telling you upfront you don’t want just a resume. You need the trifecta of resume, cover letter and thank you letter in a package that has a cohesive style in order to stand out and get a job sooner than the average six months. So I only offer complete packages.
Another game the big-box companies play is charging twice as much, or more, for executive level work. Now, I’ll admit that executive resume packages take more work than entry and professional level- but not twice as much! You can regularly see quotes up to $500 for this level of service.
All three of my packages include a cover letter and thank you letter written in Word so that you can personalize them for specific positions as well as a quality resume in both a word format as well as a plain text version for easy online submissions.
